Alogliptin

A DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) for type 2 diabetes: it prolongs the action of the incretin hormones that stimulate insulin release. Approved in Japan in 2010, and in the United States and Europe in 2013. This family brings together the active ingredient, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.

Did you know?It was tailor-made starting from the three-dimensional structure of the DPP-4 enzyme solved by X-ray crystallography: a textbook example of structure-based drug design.
