Avasimibe

An inhibitor of the ACAT (SOAT) enzyme, which turns cholesterol into its storage form: designed in the early 1990s, it was studied for high cholesterol and atherosclerosis until 2003, without ever reaching the market. This family brings together the active ingredient and labelled standards.

Did you know?Besides blocking ACAT it activates the nuclear receptor PXR and speeds up the metabolism of many other drugs, with a profile similar to rifampicin; in recent years it has been studied in the laboratory as a possible anticancer agent.
