Azithromycin
An antibiotic of the azalide subclass, a macrolide with a nitrogen atom in its 15-membered ring: it was discovered in Croatia in 1980 by a team of researchers led by Slobodan Đokić and has been on the market since 1988. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?It accumulates in phagocytes, immune cells that carry it to the site of infection: in tissues it can reach concentrations more than 50 times higher than in plasma.
