Bazedoxifene
A selective oestrogen receptor modulator (SERM) of the 2-phenylindole family: approved in Europe in 2009 for postmenopausal osteoporosis and, combined with conjugated oestrogens, in the United States in 2013 for menopausal symptoms. This family brings together the active ingredient, metabolites, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know? Its combination with conjugated oestrogens was the first menopausal hormone therapy to pair a SERM with an oestrogen: the oestrogens relieve symptoms while bazedoxifene protects the lining of the womb.
