Bifendate

A synthetic liver-protecting drug developed in China, also known as DDB: it is an intermediate that arose from the synthesis of analogues of schisandrin C, a compound of the Schisandra chinensis fruit. It is used in chronic hepatitis, because it lowers ALT liver enzymes. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.

Did you know? The plant where it all began, wu wei zi in Chinese, is called the "five-flavour fruit": traditional medicine credits it with sweet, sour, salty, bitter and pungent tastes all at once.
