Cefoperazone
A third-generation injectable cephalosporin, patented in 1974 and in medical use since 1981, also active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa; it is often combined with sulbactam, which protects it from beta-lactamases. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know? Its N-methylthiotetrazole side chain, released in the body, inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase: with alcohol it can therefore cause a reaction similar to that of disulfiram.
