Cefotiam
An intravenous and intramuscular cephalosporin antibiotic, patented in 1973 and approved in 1981; it is active against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, but not against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.
Did you know? There is also a version taken by mouth, cefotiam hexetil, listed in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia: a prodrug that, once absorbed, releases active cefotiam.
