Citicoline
It is cytidine diphosphate choline (CDP-choline), a molecule our body makes as a step in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, one of the main lipids of cell membranes. Its pathway was discovered in 1956 by Eugene Kennedy; it has been studied in cognitive disorders and stroke. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.
Did you know?Taken by mouth it does not reach the brain intact: in the gut it splits into choline and cytidine, which cross the blood-brain barrier and are reassembled there into citicoline.
