Danaparoid
A low molecular weight heparinoid anticoagulant: a mixture of heparan sulfate, dermatan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate, containing no heparin. Used since the 1980s to prevent deep vein thrombosis and as an alternative to heparin in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). This family brings together the active ingredient.
Did you know?Although it is a chemical relative of heparin, the antibodies behind HIT rarely recognise it: the clinical cross-reactivity observed was about 3%.
