Danazol

A synthetic steroid derived from ethisterone, synthesised in 1963 and in use since 1971, the year it became the first drug approved in the United States specifically for endometriosis; it is also used for hereditary angioedema. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.

Did you know?It has an unusual structure for a steroid, with an isoxazole ring fused to the molecule; in a small 2016 study it slowed telomere shortening in patients with telomere diseases.
