Decitabine
A nucleoside analogue that reduces DNA methylation in tumour cells: approved in the US in 2006 for myelodysplastic syndromes and in Europe in 2012 for acute myeloid leukaemia. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?It was born in Czechoslovakia as the 'twin' of azacitidine with one oxygen atom fewer: this small difference means it is built only into DNA, not RNA.
