Deltamethrin

A synthetic pyrethroid insecticide created in England, at Rothamsted, by the team of chemist Michael Elliott in the early 1970s: it is used in agriculture, against household insects and in treated bed nets against malaria. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.

Did you know?Elliott took inspiration from the natural pyrethrins of pyrethrum flowers, making them more stable and powerful: in 1974 deltamethrin was the most active insecticide then known.
