Desflurane
An inhaled anaesthetic, an almost fully fluorinated ether developed in the 1980s and approved in the United States in 1992: it is so poorly soluble in blood that falling asleep and waking up are the fastest among the volatile anaesthetics. This family brings together pharmacopoeial impurities.
Did you know? Its boiling point is so low and its vapour pressure so high that it needs a special heated vaporiser, which keeps it at constant temperature and pressure.
