Deslorelin
A synthetic GnRH superagonist, an analogue of the hormone that regulates reproduction, used in veterinary medicine as a slow-release implant. Approved in the European Union in 2007, it is used for reversible chemical castration of male dogs and ferrets and to induce ovulation in mares. This family brings together the active ingredient.
Did you know? The same drug can have opposite effects: in dogs it switches off fertility, while in mares the initial hormone surge is used to trigger ovulation. It is even used in pet parrots that lay eggs non-stop.
