Dibenamine
An alpha-adrenergic receptor blocker studied in the 1940s, the forerunner of the beta-chloroethylamines: it binds irreversibly to the receptors and paved the way for other drugs of the same family, such as phenoxybenzamine. This family brings together other impurities.
Did you know?It flips the effect of adrenaline: after dibenamine, injected adrenaline lowers blood pressure instead of raising it, because the drug blocks only its vessel-constricting action and leaves the vessel-widening action intact.
