Diflorasone
A synthetic corticosteroid of the "methasone" family, used in dermatology at least since the 1980s as diflorasone diacetate: a class I topical steroid, the most potent class, for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know? The name reveals the structure: "di-flor" points to the two fluorine atoms, at positions 6 and 9 of the steroid skeleton. Curiously, the parent molecule was never marketed: it is used only as the diacetate ester.
