Flunitrazepam
A hypnotic benzodiazepine that came out of research led by chemist Leo Sternbach, patented in the early 1960s and in clinical use since the 1970s for severe insomnia and to assist with anaesthesia. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites and other impurities.
Did you know? Its name sums up its structure: it is the fluorinated N-methyl derivative of nitrazepam, hence 'flu' plus 'nitrazepam'.
