Fosfluconazole
An intravenous triazole antifungal, a water-soluble prodrug of fluconazole: in the body, phosphatases remove the phosphate group and release the active drug. It was approved in Japan in 2003 for superficial and systemic fungal infections. This family brings together other impurities.
Did you know? That small phosphate group is a chemical trick to overcome fluconazole's poor water solubility: it lets the drug be infused into a vein in smaller volumes of fluid.
