Frovatriptan
A triptan for acute migraine attacks, a serotonin 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist, approved in the United States in 2001. Unlike most triptans it has a tricyclic structure, derived from carbazole. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know? With a half-life of about 26 hours it is the triptan that stays longest in the body: for the other members of the class it is usually a matter of a few hours.
