Hexestrol
A synthetic non-steroidal oestrogen, a close relative of diethylstilbestrol, first described in 1938 by Campbell, Dodds and Lawson: it has been used in hormone replacement therapy and for breast and prostate cancer, but has since largely been discontinued. This family brings together the active ingredient and labelled standards.
Did you know?It was discovered among the demethylation products of anethole, the molecule that gives anise its aroma; it is considered one of the most potent oestrogens known.
