Ifosfamide
An alkylating agent of the same family as cyclophosphamide, approved in the United States in the late 1980s; it is used against testicular cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, osteosarcoma and lymphomas. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?It is an isomer of cyclophosphamide: same chemical formula, but one of the two chloroethyl groups is attached to the ring nitrogen. It is given together with mesna, which protects the bladder.
