Lenalidomide
An immunomodulatory analogue of thalidomide, approved in the United States in 2005 for some myelodysplastic syndromes: it is also used in multiple myeloma and some lymphomas. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?It acts as a 'molecular glue': it binds the protein cereblon and makes it tag Ikaros and Aiolos, two factors myeloma cells cannot do without, for destruction. The mechanism was worked out in 2013-2014.
