Levamisole
An imidazothiazole anthelmintic discovered in Belgium in 1966; besides treating intestinal worms it has been used as an immunomodulator and is also employed in veterinary medicine. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?It is the levorotatory form of tetramisole, hence its name; in biology labs it is also used to silence tissue alkaline phosphatase, while it does not inhibit the intestinal form.
