Mecobalamin
One of the two active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12, also known as methylcobalamin: it is the cofactor of methionine synthase, the enzyme that turns homocysteine into methionine. Compared with cyanocobalamin it carries a methyl group in place of the cyano group. This family brings together other impurities.
Did you know?It is one of the rare biological compounds with a direct bond between a metal and an alkyl group: at the centre of the molecule a cobalt atom is bonded to a methyl, and its crystals are bright red.
