Mefenamic Acid
A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the fenamate family, discovered in 1961 by a team led by Claude Winder and marketed from 1963: it is used mainly for mild to moderate pain and period pain. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?Within a few years the same research team created two more members of the family: flufenamic acid in 1963 and meclofenamate in 1964.
