Methoxamine
A sympathomimetic that stimulates alpha-1 adrenergic receptors and narrows blood vessels, raising blood pressure: synthesised in the 1940s and first marketed in the United States in 1949, it was used to counter low blood pressure. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.
Did you know? Its very long-lasting action, once seen as an advantage, made it obsolete in modern practice: by 2016 it appeared to be available only in Japan.
