Methsuximide
An anticonvulsant of the succinimide family, approved in the United States in 1957 for absence (petit mal) seizures, particularly when they do not respond to other drugs. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?In the body it is converted into an active metabolite, N-desmethylmethsuximide, which stays in circulation more than ten times longer: about 28-38 hours versus 1-3 hours for the parent molecule.
