Micafungin
An antifungal of the echinocandin class, approved in Japan in the early 2000s, in the United States in 2005 and in Europe in 2008: it is given intravenously against Candida infections. This family brings together the active ingredient, metabolites, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?It derives from a natural substance produced by the fungus Coleophoma empetri, a fungus supplying the weapon against other fungi: it targets the fungal cell wall, a structure that human cells do not have.
