Nitrazepam
A long-acting benzodiazepine, synthesised in Switzerland in the late 1950s, patented in 1961 and in use since 1965: it is used for insomnia and sometimes for certain forms of epilepsy. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites and other impurities.
Did you know? The prefix 'nitra-' recalls the nitro group in its structure, which places it among the nitrobenzodiazepines; for research, a light-activated version called fulgazepam has been derived from its molecule.
