Panobinostat
An inhibitor of histone deacetylases (HDACs), enzymes that control how tightly DNA is 'packed' and therefore which genes are active. It was approved in 2015 in the United States and Europe for multiple myeloma, together with bortezomib and dexamethasone. This family brings together the active ingredient and labelled standards.
Did you know?It has also been studied against HIV: in one trial it was used to 'wake up' the virus hiding in dormant cells, so that treatment and the immune system could reach it.
