Paramethasone

A synthetic fluorinated glucocorticoid, a prednisolone derivative with a fluorine atom at the 6-alpha position and a methyl at 16-alpha; approved in the United States in the early 1960s, it is taken by mouth as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.

Did you know?It retains almost no sodium: for this very reason, in adrenal insufficiency, where that effect is also needed, it is less suitable than hydrocortisone combined with fludrocortisone.
