Pheniramine
A first-generation antihistamine patented in 1948, used for hay fever and urticaria, usually combined with other medicines and widely found in eye drops for allergic conjunctivitis. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?Adding a chlorine or bromine atom to its structure gives chlorphenamine and brompheniramine: this halogenation increases its potency about twentyfold.
