Pleconaril

An antiviral studied against picornaviruses, such as the rhinoviruses behind the common cold and enteroviruses. Developed in the 1990s, in the early 2000s it was not approved by the FDA for the common cold. This family brings together the active ingredient and labelled standards.

Did you know?It slots into a hydrophobic pocket of the viral capsid protein VP1: the virus becomes stiffer and can no longer release its RNA or attach to cells.
