Polythiazide

A thiazide diuretic developed in the United States in the early 1960s, with actions and uses similar to those of hydrochlorothiazide: it helps the kidneys excrete salt and water and is used mainly for hypertension. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and nitrosamines.

Did you know?Early studies, published in 1962, showed it to be a very potent, long-acting diuretic; its molecule carries a trifluoroethylthio group, with three fluorine atoms.
