Razoxane
An antitumour agent of the bisdioxopiperazine family, described in 1969 by researchers at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London (hence the code ICRF-159): it inhibits topoisomerase II and was studied against tumours, metastases and psoriasis. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.
Did you know? Its dextrorotatory enantiomer, dexrazoxane (ICRF-187), became a medicine in its own right: it protects the heart from the damage caused by anthracyclines used in chemotherapy.
