Repaglinide

An oral medicine for type 2 diabetes and the first of the meglitinide class: it prompts the pancreas to release insulin by closing potassium channels in the beta cells. The first molecules of the series were made in Germany in 1983; it has been approved in the United States since 1997. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.

Did you know?It acts quickly and briefly, concentrating its effect around meals: a prandial action, from the Latin prandium, the Roman meal similar to our lunch.
