Rivaroxaban

The first oral direct factor Xa inhibitor, approved in Europe in 2008. It prevents thrombosis and stroke without the frequent clotting tests required by older anticoagulants. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.

Did you know? The -xaban ending shared by its whole class (rivaroxaban, apixaban, edoxaban) names the target itself: factor Xa.
