Roxithromycin
A semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic derived from erythromycin, patented in 1980 and first marketed in 1987, in France: it is used for respiratory, urinary and soft tissue infections. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?It descends from erythromycin, produced by the soil bacterium Saccharopolyspora erythraea: it is a semi-synthetic version, made by modifying the natural molecule in the laboratory.
