Sucralfate

A complex of aluminium and sucrose octasulfate, a derivative of table sugar, that protects the stomach lining: it is used for duodenal and gastric ulcers and has been approved in the United States since 1981. This family brings together the active ingredient and pharmacopoeial impurities.

Did you know?In the acid environment of the stomach it turns into a thick paste that binds to the proteins of the ulcer like a plaster, shielding it from acid, pepsin and bile; very little is absorbed.
