Taniborbactam
A boron-containing beta-lactamase inhibitor whose discovery was described in 2020, developed in combination with the antibiotic cefepime against infections caused by resistant bacteria; in 2024 the results of a trial in complicated urinary tract infections were published. This family brings together the active ingredient.
Did you know?It blocks both the classic serine beta-lactamases and the metallo-beta-lactamases of the NDM group, bacterial enzymes named after the city of New Delhi (New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase).
