Tipiracil
A thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor used in a fixed combination with trifluridine, approved in the United States in 2015 and in Europe in 2016 for previously treated metastatic colorectal cancer and, later, gastric cancer. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?Its main job is to stop the liver from destroying trifluridine just after absorption, keeping its blood levels high; on top of that it seems to hinder the growth of new blood vessels that feed the tumour.
