Triptorelin
A synthetic decapeptide analogue of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH): after an initial stimulation it desensitises pituitary receptors and lowers sex hormones. Born in Andrew Schally's laboratory at Tulane University, it was patented in 1975 and approved in 1986. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?Compared with the natural hormone, only one amino acid changes: in sixth position, instead of glycine, there is a D-tryptophan, the mirror image of the one found in proteins.
