Uridine
A nucleoside made of the base uracil linked to the sugar ribose: it is one of the four building blocks of RNA and, as UDP-glucose, takes part in the synthesis of glycogen. This family brings together pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?Putting pseudouridine, a variant of uridine, into mRNA in its place almost abolishes the inflammatory response: the discovery behind mRNA vaccines earned Karikó and Weissman the 2023 Nobel Prize.
