Zaleplon
A non-benzodiazepine hypnotic with a pyrazolopyrimidine structure, approved in the United States in 1999 for insomnia, especially for people who struggle to fall asleep: it acts on the GABA-A receptor like the benzodiazepines, despite its different structure. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?Together with zolpidem and zopiclone it belongs to the so-called 'Z-drugs', named after the first letter of their names; its half-life, about one hour, is the shortest of the group.
