Zolmitriptan
A triptan that stimulates serotonin 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors and narrows blood vessels inside the skull, patented in 1990 and introduced in 1997 to treat migraine attacks. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?In the liver it is converted into an active metabolite, N-desmethylzolmitriptan, which binds its target receptors with 2 to 6 times the affinity of the parent molecule.
