Aprepitant
An NK1 receptor antagonist that stops substance P from acting on the nerve centres that trigger vomiting. Approved in 2003 in Europe and the United States, it is used to prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?It was also studied as a possible antidepressant: that project was dropped in 2003, a few months after the molecule had been approved as a medicine against vomiting.
