Cinchophen

An analgesic, chemically 2-phenylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid, synthesised in 1887 and launched in 1908 for gout because it reduced the build-up of uric acid; it has not been used in humans since the 1930s. This family brings together the active ingredient and other impurities.

Did you know?Today it lives on in veterinary medicine: together with prednisolone it is the active ingredient of a preparation used for osteoarthritis in dogs.
