Diosmin

A flavonoid found mainly in citrus peel and also obtained by converting hesperidin: since 1969 it has been used as a phlebotonic and vascular protector for venous insufficiency and haemorrhoids. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards and other impurities.

Did you know? When it was first isolated, in 1925, it did not come from citrus fruit but from a European herbaceous plant, the common figwort (Scrophularia nodosa).
