Doxapram
A respiratory stimulant (analeptic) acting on the chemoreceptors of the carotid bodies, studied as early as the 1960s: it is used in hospital, for short periods, in acute respiratory failure and drug-induced respiratory depression. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know?It is not only used in humans: in aquariums and research centres it has also helped captive sharks and rays to recover after general anaesthesia.
