Evocalcet
An oral calcimimetic discovered in Japan and approved there in March 2018 for secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients on dialysis: it reduces the production of parathyroid hormone by the parathyroid glands. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?'Calcimimetic' means 'calcium-mimicking': the drug acts on the calcium receptors of the parathyroid glands and tricks them, as if there were more calcium in the blood, so they release less parathyroid hormone.
